BWP, MR, commercial and calibrated plywood—what are you specifying?

These words describe different aspects of a sheet and should not be treated as interchangeable.

MR and BWP

These refer to different moisture-resistance expectations. Confirm the applicable standard and the exact product documentation rather than relying on colour or a verbal label.

Commercial plywood

This is widely used market language, but it may not communicate one precise construction across every seller. Ask what grade and standard are actually being quoted.

Calibrated plywood

Calibration concerns thickness uniformity. A calibrated sheet can be valuable for machine-made furniture, but calibration alone does not tell you its moisture grade.

Film Face plywood

The film surface and panel construction are selected mainly for shuttering/formwork requirements; reuse depends on handling and the actual sheet.

Fire Retardant plywood

Fire retardant does not mean non-combustible or fireproof. Verify the test standard, certification and suitability for the intended project.
